Jordan has sent an official diplomatic request to the Russian Federation demanding the immediate cessation of the practice of recruiting Jordanian citizens into the ranks of the Russian army. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Fouad Al-Majali stated that the ministry will take all necessary measures to halt this process. The sharp diplomatic reaction was prompted by an investigation into the deaths of two Jordanian citizens. According to reports, they had been recruited to participate in hostilities on the side of the Russian Armed Forces and were killed in the conflict. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan warned that recruitment campaigns are being conducted primarily through online platforms. The statement emphasized that authorities are monitoring the activities of organizations involved in such practices. The Jordanian Foreign Ministry reported close cooperation with other state institutions to put an end to illegal recruitment. To this end, the full range of available legal and diplomatic mechanisms will be used, including holding those responsible accountable. As of now, Russian officials have not commented on the Jordanian Foreign Ministry’s statement. The situation continues to evolve, and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries is expected to continue as they work to resolve the issue.
