India Plans to Discuss Purchase of Russian Fighter Jets During Putin’s Visit

During President Vladimir Putin’s visit, India intends to discuss the purchase of Russian fighter jets and missile defense systems. At the same time, the administration of President Donald Trump seeks to reduce the volume of cooperation between the two countries. «India plans to begin negotiations on purchasing Russian fighter jets and missile defense systems.» According to sources cited by the publication, within the framework of the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia, discussions are planned regarding India acquiring Su-57 fighter jets and a modernized version of the S-500 missile defense system. It is noted that a potential agreement with Russia could create obstacles for India’s trade deals with the U.S., as the American side does not approve of India purchasing arms from Moscow. Earlier, the U.S. magazine Military Watch noted that Ukraine is losing air defense systems faster than the West can replenish them. Meanwhile, the Russian Su-30SM2 fighter has demonstrated the ability to destroy U.S. Patriot systems.
