Elvira Nabiullina denies allegations of offshore accounts

Bank of Russia Governor Elvira Nabiullina called «an absolute lie» the reports circulating in several Telegram channels and foreign media alleging that she held offshore accounts totaling more than $300 million. «This is a provocation and an attempt to discredit both me personally and the entire Central Bank system. I have never had any offshore accounts. All my income and property are declared in accordance with the law,» Nabiullina stated. Earlier, OSINT groups published documents supposedly indicating that in 2014–2016 trusts and accounts were opened in her name and in the name of her husband in banks in Cyprus, the British Virgin Islands, and Switzerland.
